Mark Schluter
Keyboard
Mark has been playing music since 3rd grade. He was a member of the Chalmette High Marching and Concert Band where he "played" the clarinet badly and was told he couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time during halftime celebrations. In fact, many of the movies you have seen on the big screen were inspired by his inept ability to play the clarinet and destroy the halftime show as he tripped up many of his fellow musicians (example: Revenge of the Nerds).
This, of course, prompted him to give up the clarinet and hide behind an organ and piano. Completing a music education degree at the University of New Orleans he became an elementary school music teacher and choir director at St. Mary Magdalen School in Metairie. Working on a masters degree at Silverlake College in Manitowo, Wisconsin, he was approached about an opportunity to his own business. He now helps many families and businesses to invest and plan for their financial futures.
Mark supported himself through his college years by playing music for fraternities, sororities, nightclubs, weddings, as well as in a variety of bands. This band, Da Funkey PawPaws, has evolved into a group of stellar musicians that Mark says are some of the most fun he has ever played with. His children have married wonderful spouses and have provided 12 grandchildren to date. He is way ahead of the other PawPaws in this regard and hopes that the rest of them try to catch up. Good luck, PawPaws!
